Are Your Headlights On? (tap here to read the entire post)

When we are on the streets and highways around dusk, we have all likely noticed that some cars are moving along with their headlights off. This may simply be an oversight and does not mean that the drivers are deliberately trying to cause problems on the road. But the failure to take note of the diminishing light and/or respond to changing atmospheric conditions in a responsible way by turning the headlamps on is an error of judgment that may very well prove to be costly for someone.

This situation illustrates the realities of life in a broader sense, too. As we move through the corridors of life and comingle with others in the many social lanes that we access, we have various opportunities to be responsible in our social dealings with people and other creatures,, or to be negligent and potentially problematic. The people who are attentive to the conditions around them will prove to be most beneficial of all. This is true on the highway or in the social lanes that we negotiate every day.

There are global places where an automatic headlight is mandated for every automobile that is in operation, but this is not the case universally, This means that each driver must make the conscious and conscientious decision to employ those supplied safety devices. Being a responsible human is something most of us want, but a responsive reaction is not automatic – we must engage our resources. Metaphorically, each of us must make the decision to employ our embedded social assets for the good of all.

In the arena pf principles recognition, we all came equipped with a set of capacities that might be compared to those vehicle headlights. If we turn on our capacities to thoughtfully use empathy, understanding, general goodness, honesty, integrity, and things like these, we will not only mitigate strife but will contribute to positive outcomes in our associations and dealings with many people, and other creatures too.

Such an enlightening choice is within our capacity, and the utilization is within our elective choices.
