The state of Pennsylvania in the USA has recently taken a step toward recognizing pets as members of the family in marriage dissolution cases. Such an acknowledgement is certainly valid when it recognizes that the pet is an individual creature with feelings and emotions, to consider. If this model is adopted, it should rightly be expanded to foster such a recognition across the board, not just in cases of marital divorce. This seemingly conscientious direction harmonizes with the natural inheritance of all creatures.
